Welcome to Wtf Quiz? : Wait, What?! (“the App”, “we”, “our”, or “us”). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

When you create an account within the App, we collect:

  • Username — the display name you choose
  • Email address — used only for account identification within the App
  • Password — stored locally on your device in hashed form; we do not transmit or store your password on external servers

2.2 Information Generated Automatically

As you use the App, we store the following data locally on your device only:

  • Quiz session data — your answered questions, scores, and accuracy statistics
  • Coin balance — your in-app coin balance earned through gameplay
  • Seen question history — which questions you have already answered, to avoid repetition
  • App preferences — your selected language and theme settings

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect or store:

  • Location data
  • Device identifiers (IDFA, GAID, or similar)
  • Photos, contacts, or any other personal files
  • Behavioral tracking data or analytics
  • Advertising identifiers
  • Crash logs or diagnostics sent to us

3. How We Use Your Information

All account and gameplay data is stored only on your device using local device storage. We do not operate a user account server or database.

The only external service we use is an AI question generation service (powered by OpenAI) to dynamically create new trivia questions for the App’s question pool. When generating questions, no personal data about you is sent to this service — only abstract prompts requesting new quiz questions.

We use locally stored data solely to:

  • Allow you to log in and resume your progress
  • Display your quiz statistics and challenge records
  • Manage your in-app coin balance
  • Avoid showing you questions you have already answered

4. Data Storage and Security

All personal data (username, email, password, game progress) is stored locally on your device using secure device storage (AsyncStorage on iOS and Android). This data does not leave your device.

We take reasonable precautions to protect your locally stored information; however, we cannot guarantee absolute security of data stored on your device. We strongly recommend keeping your device secure with a passcode or biometric lock.

5. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party service:

OpenAI (AI Question Generation)

We use OpenAI’s API to automatically generate new trivia questions for the App’s question pool. We send only generic content prompts (no personal data) to this service.

We do not use any third-party advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or social media tracking tools.

6. Children’s Privacy

The App is designed for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction).

Since all user data is stored locally on the device and no personal data is transmitted to our servers, the App does not pose a data collection risk to children. However, we recommend that parents and guardians supervise app usage by minors.

7. Data Deletion

Because all your data is stored locally on your device, you can delete all your account data at any time by using the “Delete Account” feature within the App (accessible from your Profile settings). This action permanently removes:

  • Your username and email
  • Your quiz history and session records
  • Your coin balance
  • Your seen question history

Alternatively, uninstalling the App from your device will delete all locally stored data associated with the App.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal data
  • Deletion: Delete your account data at any time using the in-app feature
  • Portability: Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times

Since we do not operate a central user database, exercising these rights primarily involves managing your local device data through the App’s built-in tools.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.

Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
